Site News #4: A Course About Project Automation

Hello Graceful Devs!

Wow, it’s been a whole month since the last news post. As always, a lot has been going on behind the scenes to make Graceful.Dev better. Most of the site improvements aren’t user-visible, so I won’t go into those in this update. But! We have some very cool new content!

New Course: A Course About Project Automation

I am so excited to share this with you! This is a project I quietly started during some early-pandemic downtime in March 2020, and I haven’t told anyone about until now. The course (actually the course version of a book) is unlike just about anything I’ve written before. It’s a braided three-strand recursive loop of a thing, simultaneously about:

  • Project automation patterns (for any type of digital project); and
  • Power-usage of the Ruby-based Rake build tool; and
  • Tooling for publishing digital content and documentation

One of my big behind-the-scenes projects has been writing the integration to automatically push updates to the book from Github into Graceful.Dev as they are committed. (And in true self-referential fashion, that automation as well will be discussed in the book!)

It’s still very alpha, but there are already 24 chapters! If you’re a Pro member, you have immediate full access. If you’ve been lamenting the slowdown of new technical content during the transition to Graceful.Dev, hopefully this will satisfy!

New Course: The Freebies

This one isn’t quite as exciting, but it’s good news nonetheless! All the former-RubyTapas video episodes that we’ve made free over the years are now collected into one organized and easy-to-navigate course: The Freebies. Tell your friends!

New Capacitor Session

The Capacitor Sessions #17 has been added to the MOOM course. In which there is a scavenger hunt, and we talk about convenience as accessibility.

That’s it for now. Cheers,

— Avdi & the Graceful.Dev Team
