Site News #21: The Graceful Web

Hi there graceful devs! Here’s what’s new in the garden…

Content Updates

Lately, a style of building dynamic web applications has emerged that leverages custom attributes and elements build up rich, JavaScript-implemented component interfaces purely in HTML. Examples of this style are HTMX, Alpine, and Unpoly. In our latest episode on Extending HTML, follow along with Jessica Kerr as she lays the groundwork for this approach from scratch!

This episode didn’t fit into any of our existing Garden Paths, so it is now the first topic in a new course on The Graceful Web.

Site Improvements

Are you on Bluesky? Want to get Graceful.Dev updates on that social network? Well now you can follow the @gracefuldev account there!

Also! There’s a new Graceful.Dev-associated free newsletter: DevSeeds! Each issue includes a developer tip sourced from the Graceful.Dev archive, some “director’s commentary” from me about the original video it’s drawn from, as well as news and discounts. If you’re already a Graceful.Dev subscriber it may not offer much extra value to you. But maybe you know another developer who would benefit from monthly tips, especially for Ruby development? If so, feel free to send them to the DevSeeds sign-up!

And that’s all for this month. Stay graceful,

— Avdi
