Graceful.Dev News #1

Hey there Graceful Devs! It’s time for another site news update.

I’m still working on a lot of behind-the-scenes rollout work that isn’t particularly visible or interesting to if you’re not me. Stuff like adding a new Membership plugin to more cleanly manage the mapping of purchases/subscriptions to course enrollments. Or making sure we’ve got a reproducible procedure for pulling all the content into the staging site, for science experiments.

On the user-visible side of things, however, here’s what’s new:

  • Thanks to new site helper Tyler, there is (finally) another Capacitor Sessions episode posted to the MOOM course! There’s lots more footage where that came from, and now that I have someone to help edit the video, you can expect more of it to appear soon.
  • …and on that note, as you have hopefully already seen, “new topic” notifications are now going out to subscribers! 🎉
  • A common complaint has finally been addressed: all the video topics in MOOM can now be manually completed without waiting for the video to finish playing. (Thank you to Jessitron for doing the chore work to update all those topics!)
  • There’s a new “Membership” section in your profile menu, which gives more insight into what membership(s) and/or purchased courses your course accesses come from. While purchasing and billing is handled outside the graceful.dev, this screen will at least point you in the right direction. E.g. if you’ve subscribed to Graceful.Dev via Gumroad, you’ll see that reflected in your membership screen and if you click on the link it’ll send you over to Gumroad.

Some upcoming TODOs:

  • Sort out team/multi-seat membership management for the new site. Both for the convenience of existing multi-seat customers and to make setting up new multi-seat accounts smoother and more routine.
  • Populate a dedicated Devcontainers course

That about covers it for this week. Keep on dancing!
