Alright, I need to vent for a second. Is anyone else completely overwhelmed by the process of securing government web development contracts?

We’re a small, skilled dev shop that could do great work, but the RFP process for these government web development contracts feels designed for massive system integrators. The paperwork alone is a full-time job, and the requirements are often a decade out of date.

For those of you who have successfully won government web development contracts, what was your secret? Did you partner with a larger prime contractor, or is there a way to navigate this as a smaller business? I’m not giving up, but I need some practical advice on how to actually compete for these government web development contracts without going bankrupt from the bidding process itself.
