Did anybody else lose a lot of inertia during the break?
Posted by Sam Livingston-Gray on 2018-03-12 at 11:53Seems like we went from 100 people watching the Q&A videos to 20 people watching

The break was hard in terms of my momentum with the course especially when I am never quite sure what week I am in

The tz difference is the biggest challenge for me to attend the live Q&A down in NZ it’s 6am and I think will move to 5am this week.

Also felt the same. At this point it’s both a mix of too much stuff to do at work and a lot of things from MOOM that have been piling up. So it’s probably more of a personal time management issue at this point
As for Q&As, they happen at my 5pm when I’m still working so I can only be there when I don’t have so much work. And now with US daylight saving time it’s even earlier.

To be honest, I was super thankful for the break because it gave me a chance to pause, collect my thoughts, catch up on life, and then come back to the course with a fresh perspective. At the time I was wishing all courses I took had a mid course break

But then, maybe I’m just weird. I know I don’t want it to end because it’s been a great learning experience lol -
Yep I did, I got outta routine and took another couple weeks after the break to get back into studying the course content again – my fault for taking on something else during the break though! I am still playing catchup but I have been enjoying the Q&As immensely when I get round to watching them. Also playing catchup on the threads

For me it was a combination of the break and the fact that the live QAs didn’t mesh well with my learning style. I prefer to read material/play with code.
That’s not to say they weren’t valuable, but it took more effort on my part and I was slightly fatigued by the idea of another hour towards the end. Which is why I was ok with watching the recordings in pieces as they fit into my schedule.
When the course gets out of beta I imagine that a break can simply be removed since all of the material is now recorded. So maybe future MOOMers(?) won’t have to worry about such things.
