Customizing username / pic?
It’s a very small thing, but it’d be nice to be geeksam’ with my usual avatar

It’s on my TODO list, just has to take a back seat to content and making sure everyone has access. The reason I don’t just turn on Discourse customization is that I really want to centralize accounts on the main avdi.codes site. The sync to discourse already exists and works; I just need to make sure there’s a place for people to update their own info on the main site.

You should now be able to do this from the main site (https://avdi.codes), just go the My Account menu and click on Edit My Profile. Changes should propagate to the forum.

Changes in avdi.codes have yet to propagate here.

ah, OK, it looks like the SSO just propogates username and full name, not nickname. And I don’t have the avdi.codes site set up to allow changes to usernames (WordPress doesn’t like people doing this out of the box, you have to add a plugin for it).

Not a huge deal. Having the avatar is good enough for my branding purposes.

I just unlocked the changing of usernames on the Discourse side. Wanna give it a try? Hopefully it won’t disconnect your Discourse user from your course user

No? For me https://discuss.avdi.codes/u/avdi/preferences/account grew a little pencil next the the username field.
